My iTunes library metadata tells me that on Saturday, March 23, 2015 at 6:23 pm, I bought and added this song to my collection. When working, I used to spend a lot of the weekend listening to music to recharge from hectic work weeks. I don’t always recall how I first learned of songs I’ve liked, and this one is no exception… it may have been on a radio program, or it might have been on a playlist a local marketing firm used to post (or may still post, I haven’t checked in years) to social media on Saturdays, though I sort of doubt that, as the curator of that list seemed to go for more alternative/electronic music. Anyway, it came into my life and has stayed.
I had never heard Teddy Thompson before, and I still do not know anything much about him or his music career. I do know that this song made (and still makes) a fabulous Saturday kitchen dance with my sweety.
“Got an easy place to be
In my arms, in my arms
Got a simple space to feel free
In my arms, oh in my arms”
(from “In My Arms,” by Adam Teddy Thompson)
I used to think the lyric was, “Not an easy place to be…” and that probably applied sometimes in those stressed-out days (maybe still does!). We listen to this song quite often… but I had totally forgotten it features Rufus Wainwright on the keys!
Now you know a little about why this is my song of the day for today. Thanks for joining me here, and please enjoy… turn it up, and get into the kitchen and dance. And, oh… I haven’t said this for a while: if you like the song, please buy it to support the artist.
Here’s the official video from Teddy Thompson’s YouTube channel:
I love this song. Thanks for this one!
