Lady Stardust

As I mentioned in my post on “Moonage Daydream” and in many of my daily write-ups, my childhood home was often filled with the sound of records playing on the stereo. A family favourite was David Bowie, whom I first saw playing live in Liverpool in 1973 with my mum and dad when we were there visiting relatives.

Today on what would be her birthday, I am picturing my late mum dancing in the living room to today’s song from the 1972 record, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

Now you know a little about why this is my song of the day for today. Thanks for joining me here, and please enjoy.

Happy birthday, Mum.

Here’s the audio for the song from David Bowie’s official YouTube channel:

And, here is an unofficial compilation of concert/backstage footage from 1972 and 1973, synched with what the compiler/editor calls “a 1972 radio session version of the song.”
